Katie Gatch, soprano, is from Lexington, SC and the the Director of Choirs and Music Department Chair at Cardinal Newman School Ms. Gatch is a singer and voice teacher in Columbia. Her opera and musical theater roles include the Queen of the Night, Die Zauberflöte; Governess, Turn of the Screw; Belle, Beauty and the Beast; and Hope, Something’s Afoot. She has also enjoyed music directing for musical theater productions in Columbia, including The Wizard of Oz (Town Theatre,) Little Shop of Horrors (Heathwood,) and Anastasia (Cardinal Newman.)



Grant Ebert, baritone is from Peru, Indiana pursuing his DMA in Vocal Performance at The University of South Carolina where he studies with Professor Dominic Armstrong. He has had the pleasure of performing roles which include, Theatre Director in Les Mamelles de Tirésias, L’ours in Les malheurs d'Orphée, Betto in Gianni Schicchi, and Sir Roderick in Ruddigore with Opera at USC. Grant looks forward to performing soon with Opera at USC as the title role in Carlisle Floyd’s Markheim. 

Catherine Black, pianist

Active not only as a piano soloist and accompanist, Catherine is also a mental health advocate and entrepreneur. Catherine founded Classical Healing Keys to mobilize classical musicians in support of mental health. She plays organ at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Irmo and works as a staff accompanist at the University of South Carolina. Catherine holds a BM in Piano Performance and concentration in Music Entrepreneurship from the University of South Carolina, is certified in Mental Health First Aid, and has obtained an MM in Piano Performance from Converse University.

Active not only as a piano soloist and accompanist, Catherine is also a mental health advocate and entrepreneur.


Having performed in over 50 venues across South Carolina, she enjoys sharing music with a variety of audiences. Catherine has served as a Young Juror for the Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, appeared in a commercial for the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, and regularly performs in solo, ensemble, and orchestral works.

Her senior thesis, "Music and Mental Health: Increasing Awareness and Promoting Wellness," has been downloaded nearly 3,000 times in 112 different countries since May 2022.

Opera Thursday was created to entertain lifelong aficionados and introduce new listeners to the beauty of opera. Join us each month at Villa Tronco for an unforgettable evening of fine dining, lively company, and captivating performances of arias and Broadway favorites by Midlands-area opera singers.


Dinner begins at 6:00 PM. The performance is at 7:00 PM.
