Peruvian baritone Jose Sacín has a sturdy, commanding voice with a versatility and musicality that make him perfectly suited for principal baritone roles in the operas of Verdi and the Verismo style. His masculine presence and natural good looks make him an audience favorite. Recent performances include the role of Count Almaviva in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Dulcamara in L’ELISIR D’AMORE, Scarpia in Puccini's TOSCA, Marcello in LA BOHÈME, Figaro in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA and Alfonso in COSI FAN TUTTTE, Giorgio Germont in Verdi's LA TRAVIATA and the title role in Puccini's GIANNI SCHICCHI at the Mediterranean Opera Festival in Sicily and Opera Camerata of Washington, Scarpia in Puccini's TOSCA with Teatro Lirico D’Europa and Guglielmo in Mozart's COSI FAN TUTTE with Opera Camerata of Washington and Opera NOVA, Conductor in TREEMONISHA, THE BARBER OF SEVILLE, DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE with Opera NOVA, Marcello in Opera Delaware's AMLETO, Count Almaviva in Mozart's LE NOZZE DI FIGARO at the Teatro Municipal in Lima, Peru, Sharpless in Puccini's MADAMA BUTTERFLY with Opera Camerata of Washington, Ein Bote in GUNTRAM with Washington Concert Opera, Germont in Verdi's LA TRAVIATA with the "In Series" in Washington, and Figaro in THE BARBER OF SEVILLE with Opera Camerata of Washington.


In 2013, Mr. Sacín performed Tonio in I PAGLIACCI with Opera Camerata and Germont in LA TRAVIATA with Opera in Williamsburg, Verdi’s MACBETH at Opera Riverbend, and Payador in MARIA DE BUENOS AIRES with Connecticut Lyric Opera. In 2012, he was seen at Opera Delaware as Tonio in I PAGLIACCI and Alfio in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA, Lescaut in MANON with New York Lyric Opera, Eisenstein in DIE FLEDERMAUS with Opera Camerata of Washington, David in Barber’s A HAND OF BRIDGE, and Don Juan Peralta in EL BARBERILLO DE LAVAPIES with the "In Series" (Washington, DC). Among his numerous other credits in previous seasons, Mr Sacín has performed leading baritone roles in performances with Washington National Opera, Opera de Lima, Opera NOVA, Opera Delaware, IVAI Festival (Tel Aviv), Baltimore Opera, Opera Camerata of Washington, Caramoor Opera Festival, Opera North, and Maryland Opera Society. Mr. Sacín specializes in Spanish Zarzuela, both in North America and Peru, and is a featured soloist in the Naxos recording of Ariel Ramirez’s MISA CRIOLLA and NAVIDAD NUESTRA.


He has appeared as a recitalist in Russia, Italy, Japan, Costa Rica, Honduras, Venezuela, his native Peru, and extensively throughout the United States. Jose Sacín has performed and collaborated with many leading figures in the music world, including: Gregory Buchalter (Metropolitan Opera), Kamal Khan, Veronica Villaroel, Alessandra Marc, Enrique Ricci and Will Crutchfield and Leonardo Catalanotto. He performed at a nationally televised event for Pope Benedict XVI alongside Placido Domingo at Nationals Stadium in Washington, DC, and sang the world premiere of selected passages from the newly discovered version of LA FORZA DEL DESTINO with Philip Gossett at Caramoor International Music Festival.
