MIMÌ: Soprano, Hilda Ramos

Soprano, Hilda Ramos has been described by the International press as a “knockout” for both her lyrical and physical beauty. Ms. Ramos, a native of Puerto Rico, is one of the most recognized singers on the island making regular appearances on both the opera stage and on live TV. Ms. Ramos made her US operatic debut with the Connecticut Grand Opera in 2001 in a French Opera Gala and as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s COSI FAN TUTTE. Ms. Ramos also performed in the American premier of the zarzuela LOS JIBAROS and LOS JIBAROS PROGRESISTAS in New York, and Zarzuela Luisa Fernanda in Monterrey, Mexico.

Ms. Ramos created the lead role in MURDEROUS INSTINCTS in Puerto Rico and was Nedda in I PAGLIACCI with Opera de Puerto Rico. In 2003 she performed Candide at the Teatro Argentina with the Festival Euro Mediterraneo in Rome, Mimì in LA BOHÈME and Nedda in I Paglacci with Shreveport Opera, concerts with Regina Resnik in New York and concerts with the Puerto Rico Symphony. In 2016 she sang the title role in Puccini’s TOSCA for the Sanfilippo Foundation in Barrington, Illinois with baritone William Powers. In 2014 she sang Amapola in the zarzuela LA LEYENDA DEL BESO with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico and in 2013 Ms. Ramos sang the role of Adina in Donizetti’s L’ELISIR D’AMORE with tenor Joel Prieto for Ópera de Puerto Rico and a special Verdi Gala for the Antioquia Musical Foundation in Medellin, Colombia.

In 2004 Ms. Ramos performed her first Cio-Cio-San for the Centennial celebration of the 1904 La Scala version of MADAMA BUTTERFLY in New York City and was Mimi in LA BOHEME for Opera de Puerto Rico and Butterfly with Treasure Coast Opera. Ms. Ramos has also performed the roles of Rosina in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Hanna Glawari in THE MERRY WIDOW, Juliette in Gounod’s ROMEO AND JULIETTE, and the Nightingale in the Puerto Rican zarzuela EL RUISEÑOR Y LA ROSA. Ms. Ramos recital and oratorios include performances the BACHIANAS BRASILERAS No5 for Pro Arte Musical, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and MAHLER’S FOURTH with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Eugene Kohn. She has sung with Puerto Rico Symphony, the Symphony Orchestra of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Miami Symphony Orchestra, Santo

Domingo Symphony Orchestra, among others.


Soprano, Hilda Ramos is the recipient of the 1999 Award for Excellence in the field of Opera by the Puerto Rican Institute of New York. Hilda Ramos has been the TV host for the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra broadcasts and was the center judge for the highest rated program on Latin TV: OBJETIVO FAMA, the Spanish version of AMERICAN IDOL. Ms. Ramos was Musetta in Puccini’s LA BOHÈME for the 25th Anniversary Gala of Placido Domingo in Puerto Rico. She sang Puccini’s TOSCA with Teatro Lirico D’Europa 20th USA tour in winter 2019. In 2021 she will cover “Mimì” in LA BOHÈME for the Culturarte production with tenor Roberto Alagna and Aleksandra Kurzak and sing the same role for the winter 2021 USA Teatro Lirico D’Europa Tour as well as “Santuzza” in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA for Ópera de Puerto Rico.
