Rodolfo
RODOLFO: Alessio Borraggine, Tenor
Roman native Alessio Borraggine is one of today’s up and coming Italian lirico-spinto tenors who is consistently praised for the beauty of his tone, his musicality and the physical embodiment of his roles. A former semi-professional soccer player, the owner of a home construction company and a jewelry designer, he always dreamed of being a singer. Searching for an operatic training pathway, he attended a masterclass of the legendary Giacomo Aragall. The great tenor took Alessio immediately under his wing and thus became his mentor in the pursuit of an operatic career. Pursuant to his studies with Aragall, he was accepted into the private New York studio of the world-renowned voice teacher Bill Schuman. Working in tandem with these two great vocal guides, he launched his career. Quickly garnering consistent acclaim, he is winning both critics and audience alike with his performances.
Upon his operatic debut as Pinkerton in MADAMA BUTTERFLY at the International Festival of the Aegean in 2017, “the Italian tenor with a beautiful sound and a good technique convincingly conveyed the hero who marries the young geisha and then leaves her behind.” Consequent to his New York City debut with Teatro Grattacielo in 2019 in the lead role of Marcello in Leoncavallo’s LA BOHÈME, “but of particular note was Borraggine, who carried us away with Marcello’s love” (Opera News) and “Alessio Borraggine sang the role of Marcello with delight and tenacity. His voice carried across the theater with purpose and connection to his character.” (OperaWire) In his 2020 debut in LA TRAVIATA with Teatro Lirico D’Europa on tour in the USA “tenor Alessio Borraggine as Alfredo Germont - Violetta’s ardent lover - nailed the part, both vocally and dramatically.” (Captiva Current) He has also been heard in concert in such prestigious venues as the Musikverein in Vienna and the Auditori of Barcelona.
His recent and future engagements include role debuts of Marcello (Leoncavallo's LA BOHÈME) with the Teatro Grattacielo for their 25th Anniversary Gala, Don Josè in CARMEN for the Narnia Festival, and Turiddu in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA with Juneau Lyric Opera. Alessio joined Teatro Lirico D’Europa’s Winter 2020 USA tour as Alfredo in Verdi's LA TRAVIATA and Pinkerton in Puccini's MADAMA BUTTERFLY. In winter 2021he will debut the role of Rodolfo in LA BOHÈME with Musica Su Roma in Italy and with Teatro Lirico D’Europa on its winter USA tour.
Alessio says, "Ciao, tutti!" from his home near Rome, Italy.
