when your contribution, small or large, can make a world of difference.
Dear Friend of The Palmetto Opera,
The Palmetto Opera, as one of Columbia’s cultural assets, is addressing the problems of the present time, and in so doing, is hoping to continue to contribute to the city’s artistic life. We hope that those persons interested in opera will support these efforts and consider a donation to help maintain a strong opera presence in Columbia’s vibrant cultural scene.
Plans are underway to present Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème at the Koger Center for the Arts on January 22, 2021. This classic tragic love story is cherished by opera lovers everywhere and is a wonderful introduction to opera for newcomers. We hope it will represent a new beginning for Columbia and the arts. Also, although we have had to cancel our April 2020 plans for the Great Moments in Italian Opera concert, opera lovers will have an opportunity to enjoy it in April 2021.
In addition, Opera is Awesome, our opera education outreach program, is developing a new curriculum to introduce opera to young people when Greater Columbia schools are ready.
For those of you who have or will contribute at least $250 or more to The Palmetto Opera in 2020, we are offering special treats, dinners for two at Villa Tronco on an Opera Thursday night of your choice on either October 29 or November 5. Dinner will include a program designed and presented by Dr. Peter Barton which will include highlights, history, and tidbits of gossip about La Bohème and its composer, accompanied by a visual show including recordings of arias and other selections performed by the iconic singers of today and days gone by. All COVID procedures will be observed at the event. If you wish to attend the Villa Tronco program, please go to our website at palmettooperasc.org/donate and fill out the RSVP, or if you prefer, we will contact you once we receive your donation. Details will follow as soon as plans are finalized.
In any event, we hope you will consider a donation to the Palmetto Opera in 2020. Small or large, your contribution will help make Columbia a more wonderful place to live. If you wish to donate by credit card, please visit our website at www.palmettooperasc.org and click on Donate. Be sure to include your mailing and e-mail addresses so that we may send your charitable deduction letter at the end of the year.
Please know that The Palmetto Opera is still actively taking a part in Columbia’s art scene, and we appreciate the support of music and opera lovers in our community. Thank you.
With sincere appreciation for your contribution,
The Palmetto Opera
